Excellent...
I have been waiting for some insight on embedded SQL. I have read James
Coolbaugh's "Desktop Guide to SQL" and see how powerful and useful this tool
could be. I say could be because I wouldn't know where to start.
So if we take Jose's program need as a beta scenario, how would this be done
using embedded SQL?
The solution I would consider for Jose's situation would be the online RPG
passing the parms to a CL run the query from the CL. If this sounds awful,
it is probably due in part to my short time as a programmer.
Would you be kind enough to tell me where and how to embed the SQL as well
as any pertinent considerations.
In house there aren't any programs currently that use embedded SQL so I
don't have any starting ground. Often when discussing homegrown
applications needs with the senior programmers I think to myself that this
program may be better written with embedded SQL, but without someone who
knows SQL to turn to it simply remains a thought.
Regards,
 L.A.C.

Perfect application for embedded SQL with a dynamic SELECT.
Just my two
                cents.
