What about WRKMBRPDM? :-) OK, it's not a very good example for an 
application, but there's no reason why another program belonging to an 
application might not be able to handle members as well as PDM does.

Multi-member files are a feature that is good in my opinion. It's not a 
relict or something. It's a feature that puts OS/400 or the DB in a better 
position compared to the rest, and many people in the list are able to use 
this feature to their advantage. There were some techniques described in 
the mails before.

The only drawback i know is SQL from another platform - but whose fault (or 
perhaps better: weakness) is this?

Your mail does not explain *why* multi-member files "are a disaster". It's 
just trying to create a mood against it. Trying.

What are the reasons?

Please explain, i want to know!
