I just mucked around with this a bit to see what would happen.

This code:

  A     FACTOR1        7Y 2B  8 44EDTCDE(J) 

allowed the field to work like an adding machine.  The Enter(-) key gave 
the odd right-side mark.  Nothing I tried would make it be anything else.  
As Doug says, the hyphen works.

Please do tell me if you (or anyone) knows how to make this work with
an edited field *during input* as opposed to output display.  I've
never found the magic incantation and thought our choices were
basically limited to (S)igned input fields with no decimal point, or
edited fields with a manual hyphen entry or the D zone switch.
