I built a small system primarily, out of CL. The CL application called routines written in RPG to read and update files, load subfiles, and perform a variety of small service functions. This was a Police event logging and database system. The technique works. You can't update a data file directly in a CL program, but after reading some of the other postings it occurs to me that in the ILE environment you might be able to set up some I/O procedures and then call them from within your CL.
