>> Suppose you taught only RPGIV and ILE, with no consideration of RPG/400. A student graduating from your school would not be prepared for JD Edwards Worldsoftware, which is still written in RPG/400. I don't agree with this. The thing to remember here is that RPG IV is a _superset_ of RPG/400. As long as the school teaches an RPG/400 wrap-up to highlight to the students what they _can't_ do in RPG/400 then where is the problem? In what way would learning RPG IV not prepare you to be able to understand such RPG/400 code? Surely you should teach the highest level and they will adapt to the lower levels if they have to. Most of the schools I've worked with now teach RPG IV with a short "here's some old stuff you'll come across" section at the end to deal with RPG/400. Too many AS/400 shops are behind the times as it is - why on earth would we want the schools to encourage that tendency? +--- | This is the RPG/400 Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to RPG400-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to RPG400-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to RPG400-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
