The _Command Line_ processor allocates 32 bytes to character variables by default. You can change the physical allocation by using single quotes. If you allocate a variable of a certain size, say 80 bytes, in a program, it is 80 bytes. You don't need to use a command unless you are calling the program from a command line. This will allow you to specify the size of the variable. The command processor allocates the memory for the parameters and it defaults to 32 for a character data type.
