Simon, if all the programmers that have had trouble with mismatched parms 
were to take your advice and leave programming then you and the other few 
programmers left would never keep up.

I'm not picking on you particularly but "the casual and careless" 
shouldn't BE 
programming!

The parameter mismatch debate that has been flying recently (for the 
umpteenth time) 
is a classic example of careless.  The only instance that is tolerable is 
when 
literals are being passed and even then it is reasonable to expect that 
people who 
term themselves programmers understand what is ocurring in main storage.
