I learned CGI-RPG prior to Brad's book (actually from his earlier articles in MC). This is an excellent first step. Net.Data is worth checking out. Using Net.Data and RPG is very much like using JSP and Java servlets (JavaBeans). Put your HTML in Net.Data and then call your RPG for the dynamic content. Your RPG still writes to standard out and it's inserted into the page at the point of your call. Learning all of these things first, really made learning servlets simple.
