Mark, A technique I use when dealing with 27x132 screen size is this: - Make the display file user controlled - Try to open the display file (OPEN(E) or with an error indicator) - If the open does not succeed, either issue an error message (I let the calling CLP handle that) or open an alternative display file for 24x80.
