I use one of the DSM (Dynamic Screen Manager APIs) which lets you
determine if the current device supports a given mode.  This is called
the Query Mode Support API, or QsnQryModSup.  The 27x132 format is
known as mode *DS4, although the api only has you pass the '4' when
checking if *DS4 is supported.
