Patrik, It looks like you have received quite a few good suggestions. The most important contribution I have is to encapsulate your sorting/sql/user index/etc. code into a reusable module. That way you don't have continually re-invent the wheel. For examples of encapsulated sorting & user indexes (both are supported) you might look at the October 1999 issue of Midrange Computing. For an example of encapsulated dynamic SQL procedures, you might look at the December 1999 issue of Midrange Computing. I would tend toward the SQL solution because it will be the most flexible, apply to the most situations, and can be used to quickly build very dynamic applications. The main drawback is the database overhead, which can be minimized through the use of pre-built indexes and tuning. I am trying to give to user chance, when listing in a subfile, to see the records sorted ... any suggestions ? Thank you and wish a nice day :-) +--- | This is the RPG/400 Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to RPG400-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to RPG400-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to RPG400-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
