There are all kinds of ways to do this, and it depends on the particular
case.  In general, I can think of three ways to approach it.

1.  Sort the subfile in place using the sort algorithm of your choice and re
put it to the screen.

2.  Shadow the subfile in the data structure of your choice--array, user
space, linked list...Sort the data structure and rebuild the subfile.

3.  Have different logical views of the data files from which the subfile is
built and reload the subfile according to the sort desired.
