Hi All, I need to know the exact size of a file (PF or LF) . I am using DSPOBJD and DSPFD commands. There is difference in size returned by these two commands. Let me explain this to you. Result of DSPOBJD Result of DSPFD PF Name : FILE size :682700800 Total of member sizes : 682659840 offline size :681619456 LF Name : FILE1 size :44077056 Total of member sizes :44064768 offline size :44077056 LF Name : FILE2 size :28672 Total of member sizes :47210496 offline size :47239168 LF Name : FILE3 size :68194304 Total of member sizes :68182016 offline size :67145728 LF Name : FILE4 size :294912 Total of member sizes :262144 offline size :294912 File is single membered file. FILE1 , FILE2 , FILE3 and FILE4 are logicals on FILE. As I understand, DSPFD.size means cluster size allocated to the file (PF or LF). Notice that DSPFD.size is divisible by 8192. 8192 is cluster size. DSPOBJD. size means size of (Object + Data + Index). I don't understand DSPOBJD.offline_size. Questions: 1) Why cluster is allocated to Logical? We know that logical is View or Access path to Physical. 2) Why the DSPOBJD.size for some logicals are huge? We know that logical doesn't contain data. 3) For logical FILE2 , there is huge difference in DSPFD.size and DSPOBJD.size. Why? Any help is greatly appreciated? Regards, Ajay Kumar 305-539-6621.
