Hi Susan, As I understand it... RPG/400 is an implementation of RPG III. In other words, RPG III is a language, and RPG/400 is a compiler that compiles that language. What your boss may be thinking of is that in RPG III on the Sys/38, the compiler was also simply called "RPG III". He may be comparing the changes that IBM between the AS/400 compiler and the S/38-compatable compiler. To make matters more confusing, the compiler for RPG IV is called "ILE RPG/400" which is basically just saying "RPG/400 for the Integrated Language Environment". (Which is confusing, since people associate RPG/400 with RPG III) So... hope that helps.
