You want to store the name of a variable in a string, then use it as a type
of pointer to the original variable.  So, if your field X contained "STATUS"
you would like to be able to get to the contents of the STATUS field, if
it contains "COST", you want the cost field, etc...

I would say that RPGLE does not have this built into it, but you could
do it.  It would not be easy though.  Hmm... Actually, you might be able
to do something with SQL though!  Any SQL gurus here know how to
kludge this in SQL?
