Define the bigger one first. Overlay the little ones.

Subject: Overlay Keyword

I have a question using the "overlay" keyword.

If I have two field each 4 alpha i.e. MMDD and YEAR and I want to combine
them to look like YEARMMDD which is 8 alpha. How would I use the overlay
keyword to accomplish this. I know you can use a data structure or the cat
function to do this but I was trying to learn new stuff. TIA
