Your data is not being converted from EBCDIC to ASCII, because your transfer
request doesn't say to do it. If you're using Client Access, find the
transfer request (.tto file) and look at the properties page. Check the box
labelled "Convert CCSID 65535". Then try the transfer again.

You can access the properties page from Excel only when you're creating a
new transfer request as far as I can tell.
