Check out the March issue of News/400, page 70.  It has just what you need
for dynamic sql.  They place the entire sql stmt in a field using
sub-stringing and then do an Execute Immediate :sqlstmstr. (sqlstmstr is
your field containing the sub-stringed sql statement)


For "position to"  I use:    WHERE field1 >= :argument.   The key here is
the "greater-than-or-equal-to" which gives you your search argument and
everything after it.
