Booth, I must assume that you just wanted to stir the pot. How anyone could conceivably not use date/time/timestamp data types is beyond me! I would say that it borders on evilness :-) I for one wish that there were even more data types supported by DB2/400 UDB what ever they are calling it this week :-) I would love to see and auto-increment data type (and a smart one at that where it would auto increment in the key structure above it, for example order detail line numbers). I applaud IBM for giving us User defined types and User defined functions. Now where to lay my hands on a V4R4 machine with the C compiler :-) Why oh why would anyone go back to a programming practice that has been rotten since the mid 80s?
