Tom. >Is it possible to have a trigger program update the record whose update >triggered it without having it re-trigger itself infinitly? Originally that wasn't possible, but support was added for it in V3R2 and V3R7+. To avoid any possible problems with programs which modified the buffer without explicitly intending to alter the record, the default is still to ignore buffer changes. To enable it, specify ALWREPCHG(*YES) [Allow Repeating Change] on the ADDPFTRG command, which also must be a *BEFORE trigger. Any changes you make to the buffer will then be written to the file. Note that the original caller's program buffer is *not* modified, so if it needs to see the changes made it needs to reread the record.
