Gade, why not explain a bit more about why you wish to hold off till evening before doing your reports, etc? The advantages of the trigger are so great, especially when you are talking of all these applications accessing the data base. There is a bit of a performance hit, maybe, but just think of all the code you never need to write or test once you have your trigger executing well. The upsides to the trigger seem pretty compelling to me. _______________________ Booth Martin boothm@earth.goddard.edu http://www.spy.net/~booth _______________________ Gade_R_Reddy@consecofinance.com Sent by: owner-rpg400-l@midrange.com 12/27/1999 05:18 PM Please respond to RPG400-L To: RPG400-L@midrange.com cc: Subject: RE: Trigger Program Hey Guys, another question about trigger program. The trigger program is executed everytime for every single record ( if i had a trigger on Insert for instance ). Is there any way i can just run the program once after all the inserts are done to the file???. In my case, i dumping the data from the Web to AS400 file. I want a report that can produce all the new records added to the AS400 File at the end of the day automatically. Hope i did't confuse much. Thanks. Gade. Granted, this worked really slick for me on an ILE trigger program, I have not tried this method using older coding techniques. Don't forget to remove the trigger from your test file (rmvpftrg).
