I thought this was meant to be a technical forum. I frankly don't feel very
comfortable with the prospect of our starting to correct each other's
English, especially over something as trivial (and debatable) as whether a
collective noun should take a singular or plural verb.

Can we all avoid grammar and spelling flames please? They're distracting and
they are likely to inhibit many people from making valuable contributions.
