I agree.  There's just so much extra work involved to use READC.  I never
use it
in anything I write anymore.  I find it to be a maintenance headache; just
read
the darn subfile, test your values and decide whether anything was changed.
If
I remember correctly, READC was intended to improve performance on the
really
big subfiles where only a few records would be changed.  It is a rare
subfile
that I come across nowadays that regularly has more than 100 records.  And
on
today's machines, it's just not gonna impact your response time.
