Mary Lynn, What I have done in the past is to run the CPYFRMQRYF to a dummy qtemp file with the NBRRCDS(1) parameter (this saves potentially a lot of time, especially if their are a lot of records selected by your OPNQRYF). After it completes, use the RTVMBRD NBRCURRCD(&NCR) on the dummy qtemp file and then test &NCR; if greater than zero, then run your program. (Remember to POSDBF your OPNQRYF'd file before you call your program.) - Dan Bale >>I have a CL program which uses an OPNQRYF to select certain data requested by user. I then want to check the record count to see if any records have been selected, if no records are selected I do not want to process the subsequent RPG program.<< +--- | This is the RPG/400 Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to RPG400-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to RPG400-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to RPG400-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---END
