  • Subject: CRTPGM Creation Options *DUPVAR *DUPPROC

We use binding directories defined for functional areas such as Finance, Order
Entry, Warehouse etc...
Each binding directory contains all of the modules/service programs that are
needed for each functional area. If there is a module that is needed across
functional areas it is added to the binding directory of those areas.

My problem is if there are variables and/or procedures defined for export within
multiple modules in a binding directory.
When I try to create the program (CRTPGM) I get the error:
Definition supplied multiple times for symbol 'xxxxx'.....
Where 'xxxxx' is the variable or procedure name defined for export.

If we set the parameter OPTIONS (creation options) in the CRTPGM command to both
 *DUPVAR and *DUPPROC
the program is then created without error.

Does anyone know if there any problems with setting this parameter to *DUPVAR
*DUPPROC?
We would like to change the defaults of the CRTPGM command to this.

Thank You,
Brian Ellis.
