FTP Scripting

Hi All
I posted a question on the newsgroup last week and have since been away. I
got back today and the string has been removed so here's my question again.
I have a series of pgms which facilitate the automation of downloads to
different NT servers. What still needs to be done is the pgm to create the
script in the input file to connect to these servers. From what I
understand a CLLE pgm needs the overrides (input & output)  and then needs
to

FTP   RMTSYS(xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx).

How can I get to the input file so I can use the open and close
sub-commands ?

Any help would be appreciated
