Length may be significant in a date literal, (I'm actually not sure, so I'll take your word for it) but its not the biggest problem here. His variable &FRMDTE isn't even being used in that QRYSLT... and in all likeliness he probably forgot about the quotes completely, otherwise he'd have (I assume) put them in the QRYSLT string itself rather than the variable. boothm@ibm.net wrote: > ---------------- Part 1 ---------------- > In <19990526124738.27493.qmail@hotmail.com>, on 05/26/99 > at 05:47 AM, "Marc Geerkens" <marc_geerkens@hotmail.com> said: > > > >OPNQRYF file(pestpr) qryslt('WNPDTP1E *EQ "01.05.1999"') > 1234567890AB > (use fixed format for spacing) ============ > > >----------------------------------------------------------- > >THIS DOESN'T WORK > > >DCL VAR(&FRMDTE) TYPE(*CHAR) LEN(10) > >OPNQRYF FILE(pestpr) QRYSLT('WNPDTP1E *EQ &FRMDTE') > > Wouldn't &FRMDTE want to be 12 characters long to accomodate the > apostrophes or quotes needed for the literal field? > > > -- > ----------------------------------------------------------- > boothm@ibm.net > Booth Martin > ----------------------------------------------------------- > > * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * > * * > * This is the RPG/400 Discussion Mailing List] To submit a new > * > * message, send your mail to "RPG400-L@midrange.com".
