Its not that many people are scared of the manuals. I find that in general,
like most of IBM Manuals (whether mainframe or AS/400), you need to know what
you are looking for before you know where to look. There have been occasions I
have searched through numerous IBM manuals on the internet, (especially for
API's ) only to be told that the information Im searching for, resides in a
particular manual I would never have considered. I have even called IBM's
support line asking for directions to which manual I need to review, and on a
couple of occasions, its taken them some time to come up with an answer.

Definitely agree with you there. Many people are scared of the manuals,
for some reason?

Hmmm, I thought I did yesterday when I referred the poster to
Chapter 9 of the ILE RPG Reference manual! Can anyone program
effectively (in any language) without being intimately familiar
with the manuals? Knowing how (and when) to read a manual is
probably the most important thing a student of programming can
learn.

Cheers! Hans
