I'm pretty sure we agree, mostly. I did find that the new AS/400s load 1500
records almost immediately. Since I am not a great typist I tend to prefer the
point and click solution, especially in inquiry applications. However I have
no problems with your preference either. The one solution I haven't cared for
is the building of a subfile by adding a page at a time.

You mention another subject though, and I would be interested in people's
opinions on the topic. Lets say I want to do the subfile you've suggested,
sorted by any one of Customer, Part, Invoice, Date, or Work Order. How do
others signal the user's choice to the program? I have made a listing of these
on the upper right side of the screen, with a Command key for each. I've also
made pushbuttons for each choice. I've not done enough of either to get a
fixed attitude about the right way to do it, and would like opinions.

I missed your sessions in Boston.  Sorry.  I had two learning missions there;
tcp/ip and client/server.
