The converting to a physical file was a technique used to tranfer data to PC files before FTP came into common usage. Since you can't download a SAVF using PC Support, the file had to be converted to a PF before downloading. Then the reverse is done for the upload. Does anyone know if a v3r1 box can do binary FTP? I have en E45 that no longer has an ethernet card in it. Can a dial up session to an ISP be set up to do binary FTP? For some reason I seem to remember that this machine could do FTP but not binary. Thanks. -----Original Message----- From: Frantisek Barta <barta.f@pbsvb.cz> To: 'RPG400-L@midrange.com' <RPG400-L@midrange.com> Date: Friday, April 02, 1999 2:34 AM Subject: RE: FTP a Save File. >Hello > >I use FTP for transfer sources and programs - >make SAVF, FTP to PC, make ZIP file, send by e-mail as attachement, >unZIP, FTP to AS/400 to prepared and cleared SAVF, restore object. >Transfer O.K.
