  Try to use in display file keyword INVITE and when you create display
file specify maximum record  wait time parameter, it means number if
seconds that program waits for file resources or you can specify *IMMED,
it means program does not wait and required immediate alocation of
resources.
In RPG program use WRITE operation and as operand use display format
name, if you want to get some information from screen use READ operation
and as operand use the name of display file.
