There a few different WiFi substandards. Its usually 802.11ᴚ, where ᴚ is a
rightsize up latin letter such as 802.11n. I have a super low end laptop
that I can't connect to the new fast wifi networrk at an old client, but
works fine on their slower network.

But yes it passes the smell test, and I would guess its a matter of
"flavors" of 802.11 supported. He could probably get a super small USB wifi
adapter if this proves to be the issue. Also, he MIGHT be ableto get a
faster wifi card for his laptop. They are removable, but I don't know how
standard they are and if an ancient laptop uses the same form factor as the
modern ones.

All,

One of our salesreps got a new S7 Edge (Verizon). The mobile wifi hotspot
work with all the devices he has /except/ his Dell E6500 laptop (Win7 HP).
He got frustrated and called Verizon support. They told him his laptop is
too old and that's why it won't connect.

Does this pass the smell test? Guess I'll researching what wifi encryption
levels are available on the 2 devices, but that's the first time I've heard
that one.

Thanks.
