Jerry - As Tom notes you might also consider replacing Outlook Distress
after you get your corruption issue resolved.

Personally I use the full Outlook client for my non-work, non-Gmail email.
My employer participates in the Microsoft Home Use program (
http://www.microsofthup.com/hupus/chooser.aspx?culture=en-US ) which allows
me to purchase Office Professional for $9.95. See if your employer
participates.

Outlook Express uses .mdx and .dbx files. I've tried to look for a
tool i've used in the past, but the first five pages of Google Search
results are full of spam.
