That's the only right thing to do. If you have a machine that was
compromised by malicious software running with full administrative
privileges, the only way to fix it is to reinstall it. Otherwise,
there is no telling if there is still something left on the machine.

After reinstalling, make sure that you do not give the users
administrative privileges, that AV software is installed and
up-to-date and that all security updates are applied automatically.
