I was concerned about the number of channels, as well, but that shows I'm stuck back with my Roland JX-8P and 6-voice polyphony - and it can respond on only one channel.

Now I did wonder about assigning a different "pitch" to each valve. A good sequencer can send "pitch" signals out on several channels, as I recall. That would maybe take care of the number or valves he is controlling.

And the main reason I brought up MIDI at all is, it is really and ON/OFF kind of thing. And he could coordinate everything, including music and video with such an app.

I've asked a friend who has been in the electronic music biz awhile, including some work on Garritan (?) sounds used in Finale.

I'm just glad I finally learned to use the patch chain feature of my JX-8P!!

I've been at DevCon, so I haven't jumped into any of the cool discussions about web architecture, because it takes too long just to type my response <grin>. But in this I hope I can add a little help quickly. It sounds like your MIDI experience is a little out of date, Walden. Almost any decent keyboard these days has 128-voice polyphony or more. I've seen lots of 256 and some even higher.
