Laptop is the way to go. Doubtful a desktop will cut it, a he'll
probably need to take it to the library, other areas on campus, etc.
My brother, my folks, and I got my nephew a laptop for when he goes to U
of I in a few weeks. We went with a Dell Latitude D630. We skipped the
office apps, as there was a much better deal through the school.
