I'm not a gamer, my son is (Second Life and others I'm not familiar with),
and he is shopping for a new video card after the one that shipped with his
now two-year old PC (using WinXP) gave up the ghost the other day.

The old one used the NVidia chipset and had 256mb.

He is looking at:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3145095

He is attracted by the $50 price tag and the 512mb of video memory. FWIW,
he has no intentions of upgrading to Vista.

I've never heard of Sparkle, so that scares me. And the reviews on
TigerDirect are less than great.

In my limited experience with video cards, it seems that you get what you
pay for. In terms of drivers that behave and don't crash the system, and
manufacturer support.

Is spending $50 on a video card expected to handle video intensive games
asking for trouble?

TIA,
Dan
