Each day when I get to work, I must place my wireless device on the east side of my cube in order to be connected to the HSDPA (Fast) network.

However, somewhere between noon and 2:00 pm every day it automatically switches to the EDGE (slow) network. If I then reposition the wireless device to the west side of my cube, it will then reconnect to the HSDPA (Fast) network.

It might be some other device being turned on or off at that time of day and it's changing the RF environment enough that you need to get on a different channel. That device may not even be in the 3G frequency band to affect your situation. Even stranger, it could be a multi-path reflection from a door nearby - think about warehouse loading docks.

You need a friend with a spectrum analyser to find out for sure what's happening.
