There are a few options here ...

1. Try http://wwwm.meebo.com/ which is a web based chat client. I've
played around with it a bit, and it looks nice.

2. You can contact me for a jabber id and an alternative connection
mechanism. If your firewall allows traffic on port 8080, I can help.
