1) Microsoft is at the front of the line when it comes to access to
"working code". 3rd party might use the excuse that internal code in
Windows caused their product to hiccup, and was just not aware of the
code.

2) Microsoft is charging a fee for OneCare, it is not a PTF or
freebie. Apparantly shifting gears to subscription based software.
Long live the cashcow.

3) We come from a world where *if* there was a logic error, it was
ours. Now - it's a crap-shoot. Everything is harder and it's not going
to change. Onecare delves in the most risky of areas. QA and testing
was surely a high effort. That bothers me as well as the same code
that can not be "secured" making software promising to secure and
protect it. Surely they will be at one end of the scale or other -
best or worst.

I remember when Microsoft Plus! 95 was a value add. This is the same
thing, money from nowhere. They are the best or close to it at
selling. I guess it's no different than options on a car, air bags and
virus/spyware scanning both for safety.
