Here is the key question, in my mind. Is Java closing the gap, or is Windows moving forward faster than Java? In other words, is Java following OS/2?

Fine.  But I'm just advising that this a narrow view and doesn't really
support the phrase "Java is dead".  Java is not as popular a client platform
on Windows, but in reality a lot of people are looking at it so that their
applications aren't locked into MS.
