I get the same behavior after multiple un-install and re-installs of several different versions of VB.NET. The local experts are stumped, but seem to think it has to do with permissions. I think that the local security nazi has tweaked something with group profiles myself, but he doesn't know. Thought 2: Don't use Web Projects -- the pathological coupling of web > projects and IIS is just stupid. Check out Fritz Onions excellent article on > how to use class library objects and still have access to all the > ASP.NETstuff at > http://pluralsight.com/wiki/default.aspx/Fritz.AspNetWithoutWebProjects This looks interesting. Sentence #2 .. "My biggest pet peeve with Web Projects is that you cannot even open a .sln file if the virtual directory mapping in IIS is not set up correctly." .. sounds exactly like my problem. However, I am taking classes, and need to to it the way the instructor wants, so I will have to try and get this fixed, or do development on another computer. My end goal is .NET apps talking over iSeries data. I have sent the propriator of the site to which you referred me an email to see if he can shed any additional light. I may end up putting a second PC in my office, which is in the domain, and Remote Desktop to it when I need to be in the domain. Then I leave my laptop standalone, and do what I wish with it. I am going to check this out, but it is a bit ahead of me. I am still trying to get my first site going! Thanks for the help. -- Tom Jedrzejewicz tomjedrz@xxxxxxxxx
