Yes, it's the same. Only the encoding & sending of what you've typed that's different. You type, the browser submits. If HTTPS, it encrypts what you typed. But regardless it used the same Windows API to process your typing. Smoke signals are OK, but may contribute to global warming. Also, since anyone can see the smoke signals, it's actually worse than the keylogging since you're actively broadcasting your data to anyone who cares to see it. Get a personal firewall, get an anti-spyware app. Add AV + stay current on security patches and you're reasonable safe. But there aren't any guarantees. :)
