Folks, Figured it out from a Rick Baird on CPF0000 list (due to my initial misposting of this there). It was PortReporter.exe which is from Microsoft. Port Reporter logs TCP and UDP port activity on a local Windows system. What fun.. Killing that dropped everything back to "normal" and man can browsers be a pig as you note John. I have basically quit using IE in favor of Mozilla but I have noticed it seems to eat a log of memory lately (and I'm on the latest version). I am going to be reporting that to them. Initially when I moved from Opera to Mozilla earlier this year, it didn't seem to have that problem. That would have been 2 or so releases back... Thanks ! Chuck
