Bad RAM wouldn't, I think, cause this. In task manager, on the Process tab, sort by RAM to see the list of offenders. I've seen browsers eat well voer 100MB RAM and have seen Outlook at over 600MB RAM (no, there aren't any MS memory leaks, why?) so it's entirely possible that some normal app is the culprit. If you still want to test the RAM, go to http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/ and create a test CD. Run the RAM tests.
