Rick - Event Viewer is in Admin Tools (either in Programs or Control Panel). System specs sound fine, but a 4 year old PSU could be getting a little flaky. They do wear out & will tend to provide less current over time. Even though you have to press 'n' hold the power button to force a shutdown, it can still be a power management issue, so look to the BIOS before you do anything else. - John -----Original Message----- From: Rick.Chevalier@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:Rick.Chevalier@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Monday, March 29, 2004 10:25 AM To: pctech@xxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: RE: [PCTECH] No response after running for several hours I hear the fans running but nothing that sounds out of the ordinary. I had forgotten about the sleep settings in the BIOS. That's usually one of the first things I turn off due to bad experiences with a previous system. How would I find the event viewer? I'm running Win2k Pro. I don't see it on my system at work under accessories or the control panel. Pressing the reset button doesn't do anything. To power off I press and hold the power button. A single press doesn't elicit a response. More system info: I handed this system down to my daughter when I upgraded mine so it's been in use for a few years (3 or 4). It has 1 80G WD hard drive (new), 1 Sony CD burner, 512meg memory, ATI 7000 series (don't recall exact number) video card, 400 watt power supply (new with case).
