I hear the fans running but nothing that sounds out of the ordinary.

I had forgotten about the sleep settings in the BIOS. That's usually one of
the first things I turn off due to bad experiences with a previous system.

How would I find the event viewer? I'm running Win2k Pro. I don't see it on
my system at work under accessories or the control panel.

Pressing the reset button doesn't do anything. To power off I press and hold
the power button. A single press doesn't elicit a response.

More system info:
I handed this system down to my daughter when I upgraded mine so it's been in
use for a few years (3 or 4). It has 1 80G WD hard drive (new), 1 Sony CD
burner, 512meg memory, ATI 7000 series (don't recall exact number) video card,
400 watt power supply (new with case).
