If you need it resolved quickly I would recommend reaching out to IBM directly for some support. Perhaps Jesse G or Tim R can point you in the right direction.

Justin already said he got pyodbc installed, thanks to help he got on Ryver. The magic incantation, which he cited in his post here, was provided by Kevin Adler.

That incantation bypasses a faulty GCC-related library and uses the latest RPM-based version of that library instead. The only questions that remain are how/why that faulty library is faulty, how it got on his system in the first place, and what to do about it, if anything.
None of those questions are urgent. (And my guess is that it would be perfectly safe to just delete the offending library.)
