Try specifying /QOpenSys/pkgs/bin/bash on the chroot command.

Interesting... I must be missing something simple:Jesse
$ chroot /QOpenSys/containers/node8.9.4 /usr/bin/bash
/usr/bin/bash: No such file or directory
Seems like it's telling me that the bash command isn't there, but it is.
But this works...
$ cd /QOpenSys/containers/node8.9.4/usr/bin
$ bash
bash-4.4$

An interesting note-warning on CHROOT.to
If you create an environment and decide to get rid of it, make sure NOT
do that using an FTP client such as FileZilla.
Someone I know did this and it removed all the PASE code.
Apparently FTP clients chase the symbolic links and actually delete the
associated files.

My pleasure. I've learned tons from Tony Cairns, Kevin Adler, and
scenarios.Gorzinski so I try to give back whatever I can. This automationstuff(n1)
is a big necessity for IBM i shops to adequately compete.
n1 - chroot can be used to automate the creation of CI and CD
