Have you considered writing an article that compares PASE Python to
iSeriesPython? That would help people, myself included, know the
differences between the two.

If PyCrypto is the ONLY package you need that isn't pure Python, you
could try iSeriesPython instead of IBM's Python. iSeriesPython comes
with a precompiled PyCrypto.
If you will need to compile other things as well, then Kevin's advice
(of getting gcc working in PASE) is almost definitely your best bet.
